Loss Prevention Awareness Posters

Internal Theft · Shoplifting Awareness · Safety Procedures

A collection of three printable, breakroom-ready loss prevention awareness posters for small businesses. Covers internal theft red flags, shoplifting observation protocols, and daily safety and security procedures — designed to reinforce security culture without accusation or jargon.

A set of three professional, printable awareness posters designed for small business breakrooms, stockrooms, and back-of-house areas. Each poster reinforces a key pillar of your loss prevention culture without accusation, jargon, or complexity.

How to use: Print each poster on standard 8.5×11 paper or enlarge to 11×17 at your local print shop. Laminate for durability. Post in areas where employees gather, pass, or clock in — not where customers can see them.

01
INTERNAL THEFT PREVENTION
Protecting Our Team Means Protecting Our Business

Everyone Plays a Role
Report suspicious behavior to your manager — no accusation needed
Never share your register login, discount codes, or keys
Follow cash handling procedures every single transaction
Double-check refunds and voids before processing
Red Flags to Watch For
Excessive voids, no-sales, or refunds on one shift
Cashier consistently short or over by small amounts
Frequent register sharing without supervisor approval
Merchandise found near exits or trash areas
Remember: A pattern is not proof. Report what you see. Let management investigate fairly and objectively.
02
SHOPLIFTING AWARENESS
See It. Document It. Report It.

What to Look For
Customers carrying empty bags, wearing oversized clothing, or avoiding eye contact
Groups that split up, distract staff, or block camera views
Quick grabs of high-value or easily concealed items
Repeated visits with no purchase, especially during busy periods
What NOT to Do
Never confront, chase, or physically stop a suspected shoplifter
Never accuse a customer directly — it creates liability risk
Never put yourself or other employees in danger
What TO Do
Observe and remember details: clothing, height, direction of travel
Notify a manager immediately with specific, factual observations
Document what you saw, when, and where — write it down
Your safety comes first. Property can be replaced. You cannot.
03
SAFETY & SECURITY PROCEDURES
Every Shift. Every Register. Every Door.
Illustration of a padlock, key, and checklist clipboard representing store safety and security procedures
Opening Procedures
Inspect all entry points for signs of forced entry before unlocking
Check that safes, high-risk merchandise, and cash drawers are secure
Verify camera systems are recording and time-stamps are accurate
Count the starting till with a second person present when possible
During Operations
Keep registers locked when not in active use
Limit who has access to keys, codes, and override passwords
Follow the "buddy system" for cash drops and safe access
Report broken locks, burnt-out lights, or camera gaps immediately
Closing Procedures
Secure all high-risk merchandise and verify counts against records
Remove cash from registers and complete safe deposits with witness
Check all doors, windows, and alarms before leaving
Sign the closing log with date, time, and initials
Consistency prevents loss. Cutting corners today creates problems tomorrow.
